OUR STORY:

Otto Zizak remembers the leafy heart shapes and bright red color of the beets on his family’s farm in Eastern  Czechoslovakia.  .  Having moved to Brooklyn in the late ‘80s, he went on to open Korzo, in Brooklyn, and Korzo Haus, in Manhattan, where beets continue to star on both restaurants’ menus.  The inherently sweet, fruity and texturally refreshing quality of the plant has inspired Korzo chefs to employ it in menu staples, such as the beet-bryndza salad and classic borscht.

Otto’s love for beets and effort to eliminate corn-syrup from the tables of his restaurants culminated in the creation of Beet Ketchup and the founding of The Brooklyn Beet Company.  Every B.B.C. product is made in Brooklyn and features New York State beets that have been slow-roasted in the oven (as opposed to the conventional processing method of boiling) - resulting in caramelization that multiplies the magical sweetness of the vegetable.  Beet Ketchup is a unique alternative to mass-marketed ketchup.  It is blended with over twenty Eastern-European themed botanicals and without any processed sweeteners.  Enjoy it with a Korzo Burger, a Brooklyn Beet Veggie Burger, or any food that begs for a little bit of Brooklyn (Beet) love.
